Do I qualify for medical cannabis in Kentucky?
Kentucky law requires patients to have a qualifying medical condition and meet certain eligibility requirements. During your evaluation, your medical history and records will be reviewed to determine whether you meet the requirements for medical cannabis certification.

Is the medical cannabis evaluation covered by insurance?
​No. Medical cannabis certification evaluations are not covered by health insurance. Elevated Medical Cannabis is a self-pay practice and does not bill insurance for certification visits.

Do I need medical records for my appointment?
Yes. Please provide medical records that document the condition for which you are seeking medical cannabis certification. Records should include your diagnosis and enough medical history to support the condition being evaluated.

Does getting a certification guarantee that I will receive a medical cannabis card?
​No. A medical cannabis certification does not guarantee approval of a registry identification card. After certification, patients must apply through the Kentucky Office of Medical Cannabis, which determines card eligibility and approval.

How long is my medical cannabis certification valid?
Medical cannabis certifications must be renewed annually. Elevated Medical Cannabis offers annual renewal evaluations for established patients, which may be completed by telehealth when appropriate.

Can my renewal appointment be completed by telehealth?
Yes. Annual renewal evaluations for established patients may be completed by telehealth when appropriate. The initial certification evaluation must be completed in person.

Can I purchase medical cannabis outside of Kentucky?
No. Kentucky medical cannabis cardholders can legally purchase medical cannabis through licensed Kentucky dispensaries. Medical cannabis purchased from an out-of-state dispensary may subject a Kentucky cardholder to law enforcement action.

Can I smoke medical cannabis in Kentucky?
No. Kentucky law does not permit medical cannabis to be consumed by smoking or combustion. Raw plant material cannot be smoked.

Can medical cannabis be inhaled?
Yes. Medical cannabis may be inhaled through vaporization. This includes vapor products and raw plant material used with a dry-herb vaporizer. Vaporization is permitted; smoking or combustion is not.

Can I drive after using medical cannabis?
No. It is illegal to operate a vehicle or machinery while under the influence of medical cannabis. Patients should not drive or perform activities requiring alertness while impaired.
